In line with advanced international-standard technologies, we entered clinical waste management in 2014, teaming with South Korean technical specialists as a solution provider for the period’s existing clinical waste crisis.
Initiated as a public-private partnership with the Central Environment Authority and Ministry of Health, this project has resulted in the establishment of the first centralised state-of-the-art clinical waste treatment facility in Sri Lanka while serving as a model for one of the region’s best public-private partnership models for hazardous waste management.
With a diverse team of experts, the company is developing itself as an environmental engineering service provider with its own invented technologies that adhere to modern-day circular economy principles and fulfil the United Nations' sustainability goals.
with an investment of US$ 5.2 million, Encare’s facility in Colombo processes over 15,000 kg/day of clinical waste. We are also currently working with other waste streams including industrial waste, chemical waste, organic waste, sludge, and wastewater from various industries ranging from apparel, tanning, and rubber to pharmaceuticals.
This is also the only certified facility for cytotoxic waste, and as such, we service all hospitals providing cancer treatments all over the country.
Sisili Hanaro Encare is thus a market pioneer and leader in clinical waste management in Sri Lanka, where our services are much needed. Our philosophy also extends beyond waste management in that we consider us as part of a circular system where all material from our day-to-day lives can be reused in various processing cycles.

Circular Solution for Secure and Industrial Waste
Our turnkey solutions for industries are based on circular economy principles, aiming to maximise resource utilisation from the diverse materials and byproducts generated by industrial processes. We also offer the disposal of confidential waste in order to prevent breaches in copyright, trademarks, patents, corporate espionage, and other forms of misuse.

Door to Door Solution
In April 2023, Encare launched a web-based solution to provide a ‘door-to-door’ solution for managing sanitary and clinical waste at the household level.
Equipped with a dedicated female-led logistics fleet, and a call centre, the operation structure is QR code based to provide transparency of waste flow from the waste generator to the final disposal.

Maritime Waste Management
Encare is certified by the Marine Environmental Protection Authority (MEPA), the Sri Lanka Ports Authority, and Sri Lanka Customs as an authorized service provider for shipboard waste management under the international MARPOL convention. We provide comprehensive solutions for both hazardous waste (i.e., clinical, expired pharmaceuticals, quarantined waste), and non-hazardous waste (i.e., organic waste, plastics).
